We’re super excited about a new series we’re starting on Tuesday nights at Family Worship Center patterned after the hit reality TV show Survivor! The first week will begin Tuesday, March 28th and will last for 16 weeks. At the end, a big prize will be awarded to the entire “tribe” with the most points at the end! Then, during the final event rally, which will be held on a Saturday, the winning tribe will also compete against each other in individual challenges for a grand prize winner. EVERYONE that participates will receive some sort of consolation prize on the final Saturday rally.
Here’s How It Will Work:
The “Tribes” will meet up every Tuesday night, promptly at 6:30 to start out the night with prayer. We’ll have a first competition and the winning tribe will receive the prize for the night along with extra points for their team. Additional points can be earned by memorizing the weekly Bible verse, bringing a friend, bringing their Bibles or offering, etc. The following age groups are the official tribes:
- Ages 6-9 (The “Tefilah” Tribe – Means Pray in Hebrew)
- Ages 10-11 (The “La’avod” Tribe – Means Serve in Hebrew)
- Ages 12 and up (The “Ahavah” Tribe – means Love in Hebrew)
At 7:00 we will have our Bible study time where we will digg into God’s Word and look at the different “Survivors” of the Bible such as Noah, Daniel, Paul, etc. We will learn a lot from their lives and will apply what we learn to our own lives. Our motto is to “Out Love, Out Pray and Out Serve”. Then around 7:30 we will have dinner for the kids. Then, everyone will vote for someone in their tribe to participate in the final challenge of the night. The final challenge will be an individual one where 1 or 2 people from each tribe will compete against each other for huge bonus points for their team. Only students that have not misbehaved during the night will be able to participate in the final challenge so it’s very important that they listen, show respect, and have a good attitude so they are able to be nominated in the big event. Our goal is to be finished by 8:00 but there may be weeks that go over due to the fact that we are feeding them dinner and we don’t want them to cram the food down in a rush!
What About Parents?
Please encourage your kids to be a part of this but don’t just drop them off… We’ve got something for you as well! From 6:30 – 7, feel free to come down and watch or help with the challenge or hang out with other adults and enjoy a pre-service coffee or soda. At 7:00, there is a Bible Study for the adults. Different subjects will be taught each week that will help you grow in your relationship with Christ. It’s much easier for kids to grasp hold of God’s Word and grow in their relationship with Him when their parents are also involved and setting an example for them at home.
We understand that dropping what you are doing in the middle of the week can be inconvenient but we do it for everything else in life and what’s most important is that your kids see that you are making your relationship with God a priority. Think about it!
Want to help?
Are you interested in being a part of shaping a child’s future? We want them to know that God has a plan for them! We want them to know that they have purpose and that they can make a difference in this world. Without children, our churches will have no future. Without children that grow up to serve God, our world will become even more Godless and hopeless. If you are interested in being a part of this ministry, please contact Jessica English at 404-548-2239. There is a screening process that everyone must go through before working with our children.
